Tagless detection is the identification of people or objects without requiring them to carry a dedicated tag or transmitter. In camera-based industrial safety systems, artificial intelligence analyzes images to detect pedestrians within the monitored view. Detection depends on visual coverage and operating conditions, including lighting and obstruction; the absence of a tag requirement does not remove these limits.
In an industrial camera application, visual analysis identifies the person or object directly from the image. This allows the monitored function to detect people who are not carrying compatible wearable devices.
The term describes the absence of a tag requirement, not a single universal sensing method. For camera-based detection, the monitored field of view and the ability to recognize the target under actual conditions remain central.
Tagless and tag-based functions can be used as complementary layers. Their different operating requirements should remain clear so that coverage planning does not assume either method detects every person or object in every situation.
