A proximity warning system is a system that alerts people when monitored pedestrians, vehicles, or objects meet a configured proximity condition. Industrial applications often use compatible radio devices to measure separation and activate visual, audible, or wearable warnings. Warning functions notify people of the detected condition; automatic vehicle slowdown requires a separate, configured control connection.
A configured threshold defines when the warning should occur. The appropriate condition depends on the application and should account for how people and equipment interact, rather than assuming one separation distance suits every area.
Tag-based arrangements rely on compatible devices being present and functioning. Visual systems may instead use image analysis to identify nearby people or objects, with different limits associated with camera coverage and visibility.
Warnings support awareness and response; they do not establish that a vehicle has stopped or that every approaching hazard has been detected. Where slowdown is required, the vehicle interface and intervention logic form additional parts of the installed system.
