TRIO SAFE is Trio Mobil’s UWB proximity safety solution for configured warnings and compatible vehicle slowdown in forklift, pedestrian, AGV, and infrastructure applications. Custom-designed UWB hardware exchanges proximity information between compatible equipped forklifts, wearable tags, and supported infrastructure devices. Because detection is based on communication between participating devices, it can help address blind-spot encounters where camera visibility is limited. Coverage depends on the devices used, site conditions, and installation.
Typical use cases include a tagged pedestrian approaching a forklift in a shared aisle; two equipped forklifts meeting at a blind crossing or in a narrow aisle; and forklift traffic mixing with equipped AGVs or AMRs. Vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication describes information exchange between participating vehicles and other compatible devices. Vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication can support alerts at configured high-risk locations such as intersections. Each use case requires the compatible devices and the appropriate vehicle or infrastructure connections.
When configured proximity conditions are met, TRIO SAFE can provide sub-second visual and audible alerts, operating with a data scanning interval of around 200 ms. With a compatible vehicle interface, the configured alert can also trigger vehicle speed reduction. The response depends on integration and settings. UWB can provide proximity information with sub-meter precision without relying on visual recognition, although radio performance and coverage depend on site conditions, surrounding materials, and installation.
Flex Zone lets an installer draw a rectangular detection area in relation to the vehicle, so protection can be configured for the operating context. This is distinct from a fixed site zone configured around a location such as a crossing. The available detection areas and responses depend on the project configuration and supported equipment.
