Risk Assessment

← Back to Industry Terms

Risk assessment is the process of identifying hazards, evaluating who may be harmed and how, and deciding whether additional controls are needed.

It considers potential consequences, the likelihood and circumstances of exposure, and the effectiveness of existing safeguards. Findings guide control selection and should be reviewed when conditions change or evidence indicates a weakness. A numerical score can support the process but does not replace understanding the task.

For example, a new pedestrian route through a replenishment area changes the exposure at an aisle crossing. Camera event records, proximity information, and near-miss reports can help the team understand the interaction. AI Risk Radar supports this review with available event and trend information; the assessment requires the broader operating context.
