PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

← Back to Industry Terms

Personal protective equipment (PPE) is equipment worn to reduce exposure to workplace hazards that can cause injury or illness. Examples include safety glasses, protective gloves, safety footwear, helmets, hearing protection, and respiratory protection, selected according to the hazards and work being performed.

Effective protection depends on appropriate selection, fit, training, use, and maintenance. In camera-based monitoring, visible PPE detections concern only the items and conditions supported by the configured model and camera view. Detecting that an item appears present does not by itself verify its protective rating, fit, condition, or suitability for the task.
